About Hay on Wye

The Children's Bookshop is located near the border of England and Wales in Hay-On-Wye, in the county of Herefordshire. Hay-On-Wye is a small market town with a population of around 2,500 people. The town's economy revolves around farming, the market, tourism and bookshops, not necessarily in that order.

The nearest large towns are the cities of Brecon, 17 miles (27km) to the south west, and Hereford, 20 miles (32km) to the east.

Hay on Wye is easily reached by road from Birmingham or London. There is a train service to Hereford from Birmingham, London and South Wales. From Hereford there is a regular bus service to Hay on Wye, and taxis are also available.

Catering as it does for the tourist trade Hay-On-Wye has a number of hotels and guest houses in the town itself and there are more within a ten mile (16Km) radius of the town.
